Marina Pliassova

Marina Pliassova was born in Irkutsk, Russia. She graduated from the Irkutsk College of Arts, and the Novosibirsk State Conservatory with professors Natalia Nasvitzevich and Mark Shaviner. She is also a doctoral student at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, Bulgaria. Marina is the first prize winner of the competition for teachers-performers in Russia in 1990. In 1993 she got a job in the Lofoten Islands in Norway as a teacher and frilans pianist and moved there with her family.

Since 1995 Marina has worked at a conservatory, a music gymnasium and a music school in Tromsø, and in 1998 she moved to Oslo, where she began working at the Barratt Due Institute of music.

Now Marina is lecture at same Institute in Oslo: principal piano, the History of Piano Art . She is the head of the Young Talents department at the Barratt Due Institute of Music and  a member of the Norwegian Non-fiction Writers and Translators Association. She is also a member of the Norwegian national committee Center for Talent Development (SFU).

For about 30 years of teaching in Norway Marina Pliassova created her own pedagogical method, successfully combining the traditions of classical Russian piano school and Scandinavian traditions. She has trained great team of laureates of national and international competitions.

Marina is a member of the jury of several international competitions. She conducts master classes in different countries of the world: Norway, Russia, Spain, England, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Iceland, Czech Republic, Finland, France, as well as at annual festivals in Greece and Belgium. She performed as a soloist with the Yaroslavl Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017.  Marina’s students regularly perform at various international concerts and festivals, on radio, television, including as soloists with orchestras. Many of the former students are now professional musicians, performers and educators.
